[ARCHIVED] Camden County Board of Commissioners Opens New Firehouse

“The new Firehouse 18 is an asset to the Tarboro community, and builds on the Camden County Board of Commissioners’ commitment to providing Camden County Fire Rescue with the resources and equipment it needs to protect the public”, said District 1 Commissioner Lannie Brant.

“We are proud to have a new home for our firefighters,” said Camden County Fire Rescue Chief Terry Smith. “This firehouse will serve Camden County well into the future.”

Paid with SPLOST VII funds, the $600,000 fire station was designed by Roberts Civil Engineering and built by Bent Pine Construction. In addition to three apparatus bays, supplementary gear storage, and three bunk rooms, the 4,050 square foot new Firehouse 18 includes a public area to serve as a voting precinct.

Neighbors and the public will be invited to an Open House/Ribbon Cutting ceremony that will be held later this autumn. The former fire station is slated for demolition and will be replaced with parking for visitors to Mary B. Smart Park. Firehouse 18
