Serving the citizens of Camden County as a member of the Camden County Board of Commissioners from January 1, 1989 to December 31, 1996, Mr. Williams led the county as Chairman from July 22, 1992 to December 22, 1993. In addition to his work on the board, he also served the Camden community as an active member of the Camden County Industrial Authority, the United Way Board of Directors, the C.A.P.D., Coastal Zone Management Authority Board, University of Georgia Sea Grant Advisory Committee, and the Rural Development Center.
Before his time in public service, Mr. Williams spent his career working for the University of Georgia Extension Service throughout the state of Georgia. This included two stints in Camden County, first from 1957 to 1972, before returning as Director from 1980 to his retirement in 1987. In this role he made an impact on a generation of children through his work with the 4-H program.
