[ARCHIVED] Camden County Receives Grant for Warning Signs

The $177,067.25 grant will assist in the purchase of six portable outdoor warning signs.

“These warning signs are an excellent way for the County to alert citizens about potential hazards and to monitor these sites,” said Camden County EMA Director Chuck White. “We are appreciative of this continued investment by both GEMA and FEMA in our emergency management infrastructure.”

During Hurricane Irma, Camden County EMA borrowed signs from a neighboring county to notify residents of existing hazards and other important emergency information. The purchase of these signs gives the EMA the capability of displaying messages and informing the public about potential dangers. The warning signs are equipped with cameras, allowing remote monitoring of the conditions surrounding the sign’s location. Coupled with other communications methods, including CodeRED and social media, the new warning signs assist in closing gaps in alerting the public about potential hazards.
