[ARCHIVED] Camden Residents Encouraged to Take Action during Hurricane Preparedness Week

Camden County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) urges all Camden County citizens to take time to prepare for the upcoming hurricane season that begins June 1, 2018.

This year Camden County EMA is participating in the National Level Exercise 2018 (NLE 2018). The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) leads national level exercises every two years. NLE 2018 examines the ability of all levels of government, private industry, and nongovernmental organizations to protect against, respond to, and recover from a major Atlantic hurricane. Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria last fall reinforced the need to prepare for hurricanes and NLE 2018 provides a well-timed opportunity to apply the lessons from those storms in advance of the 2018 hurricane season.

“Our participation in the National Level Exercise shows our commitment to planning and preparing for hurricane season,” said EMA Director Chuck White. “We want to encourage all Camden County residents to join us in taking action now to ensure the safety of their families.”

Throughout the week, Camden County residents will learn about hurricane risks, evacuations, disaster supplies, financial preparation, home preparation, helping neighbors, and making an emergency plan. Specific information and tips will be posted throughout the week on the Camden County EMA’s Facebook and Twitter accounts.
