[ARCHIVED] Take Action for Fall Severe Weather Preparedness

Camden County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is joining with the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) and the National Weather Service to declare November 1, 2023, as Fall Severe Weather Preparedness Day. Climatology from the National Weather Service shows that parts of Georgia see a secondary peak in severe weather, including tornadoes, during the months of November and early December.

“Camden County residents are strongly encouraged to prepare for severe weather that may impact our community this season, including tornadoes. Tornadoes can and do occur in Camden County, often with little to no warning requiring our residents and businesses to plan ahead, and to closely monitor changing weather conditions,” said Emergency Management Director Chuck White. “A big part of ensuring our residents and businesses are prepared is to make sure you are registered in the Camden County CodeRED alerting system.”

CodeRED is a service available to Camden County residents to keep them informed of emergencies such as an evacuation notices, utility outages, water main breaks, fire, floods, chemical spills, or other emergency situations. CodeRED allows the registered user to receive location-specific severe weather warnings for tornadoes or severe thunderstorms. Camden County residents are urged to sign-up for the CodeRED Emergency Notification System by visiting www.camdencountyga.gov/CodeRED. CodeRED is critical during emergency situations as a direct method of communication from Camden County EMA to your landline, cell phone, or email. TDD/TTY service is also available.
