[ARCHIVED] Camden County Rescinds Island Evacuation

Camden County was fortunate to receive less than the forecasted, potential impacts from Hurricane Idalia. At this time, Camden County is no longer under any watches, warnings, or advisories. The evacuation for Zone A has been rescinded. The local State of Emergency will be rescinded at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, September 1, 2023. 

As of 10:50 a.m. this morning, less than 1,000 customers were still without power in Camden County. Residents are encouraged to use caution if they find trees or limbs on roadways. 

The Old Still Road Yard Waste site is open for Camden County residential, vegetative yard debris. The site is located at 4883 Old Still Road in Kingsland from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 31 - Saturday, September 2, 2023. No commercial debris haulers will be accepted. Commercial debris haulers need to take refuse to the C&D Landfill at 1600 GA Hwy 110. The C&D Landfill will maintain regular hours. The MSW Landfill will have regular hours on Thursday and Friday, but will extend hours to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2023.

Hurricane Season continues until the end of November and Camden County EMA is still actively monitoring tropical activity for the remainder of the season. All Camden County residents are encouraged to sign-up for the CodeRED Emergency Notification System. Participants will be notified in the event of emergency situations or critical community alerts. 

Camden County and the Cities of Kingsland, St. Marys, and Woodbine offices will re-open with regular hours on Friday, September 1, 2023.
