Update: Additional field work will delay the start of road resurfacing. The new anticipated start date is Tuesday, September 5, 2023.
Beginning Monday, August 21, 2023, road patching and resurfacing work will begin for nearly 10 miles of Camden County roadway.
Contractors will install three layers of pavement, so there will be construction on three different days. The work will begin with Virginia Avenue, Elaine Street, Alberta Drive, and Nicole Street in District 5 before moving on to Ocean View Street, Pelican Road, Crooked River Drive, Trout Street, Third Street, Pine Street, Pelican Circle, and Sutton Court in District 2.
In September, work will continue with Piney Bluff Road, Gap Swap Road, and Spring Bluff Road in District 1. There will be some patching and construction work on these roads in August in preparation for resurfacing.
Residents and travelers in these construction areas should be aware of the work taking place and exercise caution when driving in this area. Drivers should expect lane closures, traffic control measures, and delays during construction.
Funding for these improvements include $1,026,279 through the Local Maintenance Improvement Grant (LMIG) and $406,976 through Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST VIII) totaling $1,432,636.
