[ARCHIVED] Board of Commissioners Approve Mobile Field Office

At their September 6, 2022, regular meeting, the Camden County Board of Commissioners approved the purchase of a mobile field office for Camden County Emergency Management Agency (EMA). The FORTS Custom 2 Ton Model Mobile Medical Field Clinic/Office costs nearly $175,000 and will allow for the creation of a mobile field office to assist with recovery efforts following disasters and emergencies.

“We are thankful to the Board of Commissioners for their support of this project,” said Camden County EMA Director Chuck White. “This tool will allow us to directly engage with residents on site in targeted areas impacted by disasters and emergencies. Having a mobile unit ready to go during incidents like last year’s tornado in St. Marys would provide immediate and critical support to our community.”

The mobile field office includes a HVAC system, generator, furniture, and storage cabinets. Additionally, the unit has a 130 mph wind rating and may also be used as a mobile medical clinic as needed. The mobile field office is being purchased through American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding.

“It’s not a matter of if a disaster will happen but when,” said County Administrator Steve Howard. “This strategic acquisition will place Camden County in a proactive posture concerning future recovery efforts.”
