[ARCHIVED] Public Notice: Social Distancing Encouraged

Additionally, all residents and visitors of the State of Georgia are strongly encouraged to wear face coverings as practicable while outside their homes or place of residence, except when eating, drinking, or exercising outdoors.

A Shelter in Place order has been extended through 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2020, for all residents and visitors of the State of Georgia who meet the criteria for higher risk of severe illness as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

All residents and visitors of the State of Georgia shall practice sanitation in accordance with the guidelines published by the CDC.

That all businesses, establishments, corporations, non-profit corporations, or organizations that are not Critical Infrastructure that continue in-person operations during the effective dates of this Order shall implement the 21 measures listed in the Executive Order (PDF) which mitigate the exposure and spread of COVID-19 among its workforce.

The Governor’s Order states that no local ordinance can be more restrictive or less restrictive than this Executive Order. The Public Health State of Emergency remains in effect until 11:59 p.m. on May 13, 2020.

As of 4:35 p.m. on April 29, 2020, Georgia has 25,572 confirmed cases with 31 in Camden County. Statewide there have been 1,093 deaths, including one (1) in Camden County.

Camden County residents with symptoms, including fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, and new loss of taste or smell should call the Coastal Georgia Health District testing hotline at 1-912-230-9744, for telephone screening. Those individuals that meet the testing criteria will be contacted for a COVID-19 testing appointment. Additionally, individuals who live or work in high-risk settings without symptoms may request COVID-19 tests.

Local government offices will begin to reopen with controlled entry and social distancing measures in place. Residents should look for information from Camden County and the Cities of Kingsland, St. Marys, and Woodbine on their websites and social media for specific dates, times, and details.
