[ARCHIVED] Probate Court COVID-19 Update

From Probate Judge Robert C. Sweatt, Jr.

Due to the Order Declaring Statewide Judicial Emergency by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Georgia, The Camden County Probate Court will continue to process requests (ie. Birth Certificates, Death Certificates and Marriage Certificates) submitted by mail only.  In an effort to protect our employees and their families along with the general public, we ask that all Probate filings be submitted by mail.

Please note that all deadlines and filing requirements are suspended, tolled, extended and relieved as set forth in the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court’s March 14, 2020 Order Declaring Statewide Judicial Emergency.

Weapons Carry Applicants
- Probate Courts across the state of Georgia will temporarily suspend acceptance of applications for Weapons Carry Licenses and Renewal Weapons Carry Licenses.
- If you are due to renew during the Emergency period, your license will not expire. Therefore, you will still be able to renew after the Emergency ends and your current license will remain valid until that time.

Marriage License Applicants

-In order to refrain from personal contact with others, and for personal health and safety, we are requesting you complete the Application for Marriage online and call our office to schedule an appointment to come in and pick up your Marriage License.  Our Judge will NOT be performing any marriage ceremonies for the duration of this Judicial Emergency.

The Camden County Probate Court shall accept any emergency Order to Apprehend affidavits for mental health evaluations by Appointment Only.

Appointments can be made by calling the Probate Court at (912) 576-3785
