Georgia Mortgage Assistance

The Georgia Mortgage Assistance program is accepting applications from homeowners who suffered a financial hardship caused by the pandemic. The State of Georgia received $354 million from U.S. Treasury’s Homeowner Assistance Fund, established by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, to provide relief to homeowners who suffered a financial hardship due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Georgia Department of Community Affairs will administer the Homeowners Assistance Fund program and offer the following types of assistance to eligible homeowners:

  • Mortgage Reinstatement to catch up or reduce delinquent payments or payments currently in forbearance.
  • Principal Curtailment to reduce the loan balance of the mortgage if the homeowner suffered a permanent loss of income.
  • Assistance for some Housing Related Expenses may be available.

State of Georgia Rental Assistance Program (GRA)

The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) began administering the State of Georgia Rental Assistance Program (GRA) in early March 2021. Currently, they are no longer accepting new tenant applications.  All completed applications currently pending in the portal will be processed in the order in which they were received and/or the prioritization designated by the U.S. Treasury and program guidelines.
