Camden County Earns National Awards

WASHINGTON – Camden County has been recognized with a Best in Category Award and Achievement Awards from the National Association of Counties (NACo). The awards honor innovative, effective county government programs that enhance services for residents.

“I am very excited with the announcement that one of Camden County’s programs was chosen as a Best in Category Achievement Award winner. This allows Camden County to share our accomplishments with other counties across the nation,” said County Administrator Steve Howard. “This accomplishment, coupled with the additional three achievement awards, recognizes the efficient, effective, and forward-thinking professionals working in Camden County government.”

NACo recognized the following programs in Camden County:

  • Best in Category Winner: Brush Truck and Tanker Retrofit Program through a Public-Public Partnership in the category of Risk and Emergency Management
  • Advanced Connectivity and Transparent Government- ‘Staying Connected to Residents’ in the category of Civic Education and Public Information
  • Board of County Commissioners Living Well Onsite Wellness Clinic- ‘Customized Technology for Patients with the use of Electronic Medical Records’ in the category of Health
  • Doing Business Online- ‘Efficient and Convenient Electronic Bill Payment Service’ in the category of Information Technology.

NACo President Bryan Desloge said, “Counties overcome complex challenges, provide essential services and constantly do more with less. We applaud these Achievement Award-winning counties for outstanding efforts to improve residents’ quality of life.”

Nationally, awards are given in 18 different categories that reflect the vast, comprehensive services counties provide. The categories include children and youth, criminal justice, county administration, information technology, health, civic engagement and many more.

As a Best in Category winner, NACo President Bryan Desloge will recognize and honor Camden County on stage on July 23, 2017, at its 2017 Annual Conference and Exposition in Franklin County, Ohio.

Started in 1970, NACo’s annual Achievement Award Program is designed to recognize innovative county government programs. Each nominee is judged on its own merits and not against other applications received.
